Here's a wee tool I whipped up (just for fun) in flash to demostrate the idea of mixing emotional primary facial expressions to create a third expression.

Update... V1.3

I was in a discussion with Cassidy Curtis of http://otherthings.com who pointed out that the generator shows expressions that a normal human being would never use. Indeed some of them are really difficult to pull and would probably never be used in everyday life. To have some more fun with this I asked some willing volenteers to try and copy the expressions that the generator came up with.
The results are there for you to see.

I've also added McCloud's original mixes. They really are great. Thanks to Cassidy for the pointers.

Note: McCloud cites 15 examples in his book of 'mixed expressions'. These are the ones to focus on. The extra expressions that the generator gives are simply a look at all the possible combinations - using a top-bottom exchange principle. I would not wish to misprepresent McClouds teaching in any way and therefor point this out.
